Channel 5 News

The Brief

For many years, we have worked alongside leading UK broadcasters, including ITN, Channel 4 News and Channel 5 News, providing fast, reliable broadcast support whenever Northern Ireland makes national and international headlines. Following the recent stabbing incident in Belfast and the subsequent unrest across parts of the city, we were commissioned by ITN to provide coverage for both Channel 4 News and Channel 5 News. Working to extremely tight deadlines, our crews were deployed immediately to capture events as they unfolded, delivering broadcast quality footage for audiences across the UK. As one of the few production companies in Northern Ireland to own and operate a LiveU transmission system, we were able to provide live broadcasts directly from the scene, alongside recorded footage, interviews and rapid turnaround edits as the story developed. We also deployed our CAA-qualified drone team, capturing aerial footage where it was safe, legal and operationally appropriate, providing broadcasters with a wider perspective on the scale of the incident and its impact.

Our local knowledge and experience enabled us to support visiting correspondents, producers and presenters, helping them navigate locations, identify key filming opportunities and respond quickly to a fast moving news environment. Whether working as camera operators, drone pilots, fixers or editors, our team integrated seamlessly with ITN's production crews to ensure coverage could be delivered quickly and accurately.

Working on stories of this nature requires calm decision making, professionalism and a strong focus on crew welfare. Much of the filming took place during periods of public disorder, with comprehensive risk assessments, appropriate PPE and robust safety procedures ensuring our crews could operate safely while maintaining the high editorial standards expected by national broadcasters.

Although much of our work focuses on positive stories that showcase the very best of Northern Ireland, we recognise the importance of accurate, responsible journalism during moments of national significance. Whether covering breaking news or producing long form documentaries, we approach every project with the same commitment to integrity, sensitivity and professionalism. The resulting reports were broadcast nationally on Channel 5 News, helping audiences understand a significant and fast-moving news story as it unfolded. We are proud to support some of the UK's leading broadcasters with trusted local expertise, technical capability and rapid response production whenever it matters most.
