UNBOXED is a celebration of creativity that took place in 2022 across the four nations of the UK, with 10 major commissions resulting from collaboration across science, tech, engineering, arts and maths. Hundreds of events - live, online and on television - have brought an audience of 18 million, plus thousands of jobs. We were commissioned to create a unique summary sizzle film that would showcase the main events that took place across the UK.
We wanted to make a film that truly represents the scale and depth of such a unique project. It was important that we would focus on all the regions the events took place in and featured all the various accents and languages of those places. We wanted to showcase the events equally and made sure not to overly focus on any one in particular. Another important aspect of the piece was to highlight the diversity attached to the project, so it was important we went though all the footage collected to include a vast range of demography in terms of race, class, age, gender etc. It was also very important to us to use a piece of music that would fit perfectly with the footage and the atmosphere of the events as they we pieced together.

A powerful film that has reached 100’s of thousands of people across socials and online, highlighting Unboxed as an ambitious and modern festival combining live events, community participation, original content created for broadcast and digital cultural experiences, alongside an extensive learning programme .The film now sits on the landing page of the Unboxed website and showcases the events in a creative and awe-inspiring way.
